we were preparing for a nationwide youth festival, representing the drama club for our school. this boy was assigned the stage manager, while i was his assistant stage manager. the guy was charismatic and smooth talking, but he was excessively vain. i got to see that excessively vain side of him first hand working alongside him. as progress for our show went along, i was the one doing most of the work. ironic for an assistant. i took note of the set pieces, the costumes, the blocking, notes for the script, and everything in between. this man? he was checking discord every single moment, talking about "hosting events" and how he had "so many notifications on discord". he even made me do fully rendered art for his server profile pictures and stickers, all the while paying me five dollars or less. his discord team won a huge sum of money for a competition i helped him illustrate for, and i was still given single digit amounts of money. i kept pestering him to at least do something since he's meant to be the leader of the project, but that didn't get through to him of course. funnily enough, after the festival, he got the position of drama club president.
