i used to be friends with a girl who pretended to be poor and claimed to not have pocket money to extort money from me. i was poor too, and i didn't know any better, so my heart went out to her, and i'd offer her a dollar from my pocket sum of two dollars every day. this would go on for two years if i recall correctly. on one of these days, she asked me to take care of her money, and handed me a five dollar note. forgetting that the five dollars belonged to her, i spent it on my food. on this same day, i spotted a few two dollar notes peeking from her wallet. that was when i found out she was extorting from me, and wasn't actually broke. days later, she confronted me about it. i lied and said i had lost it. i couldn't tell my mother i had accidentally spent her five dollars, because i would've gotten into trouble at home. anyway, she was the attention seeking type, so naturally she made it everybody's business in the canteen. everyone sided with her, of course. it didn't make sense for her to fuss over a five dollar bill when she had been taking money from me every single day without return. from then on, i distanced myself from her.
